I hope you are all doing well, as you launch-into the newest adventure of your lives! Any chance you will be going to Round House? We are *seriously* considering making the trip, from up here in the Frozen North. :) Maybe we'll get to see you there. God Bless!!

Joy, I appreciate this post! I really struggled as a preacher's daughter with the fact that OTHER people in the church seemed to think I should be held to a different standard. All Christians, PK or not, should seek to follow the same standard. Sometimes other parents would make decisions about whether their child could participate in a certain activity or not (i.e. prom) based on whether or not my parents let ME. That was a heavy load for a young girl to bear! Now, here I am raising my own little PK's, and I remind them often that even though we may not have as much (materially) as their peers do, their daddy has one of the most important jobs in existence. And the fact that he makes time for them helps a lot! Thanks again...Amy

Joy, there is so much I wanted to thank you for in this article, but by far, I wanted to thank you for this quote, "Far too often preachers’ families (our family included) tend to dwell on the problems in the church rather than what is right with the church. If our families have a steady diet of negativism, how does that encourage our children? Our children need to see in us the same grace and mercy towards our brethren as we wish God to extend towards us."

Preacher families and non-preacher families alike will be blessed by your example. Love will abound for each other and the church if the grace and mercy of the Lord is witnessed in our homes and discussed around our tables after Sunday morning worship more than the our grievances we have towards each other. What sweet families we all would have! Thank you, Joy!!

Wonderful article. I am thankful to be the wife of a preacher who will not compromise God's truth, no matter what result may come. This great article encourages me! I seek to encourage my husband and to tell him again and again how proud I am of his willingness to teach the truth at all times. Yes, it has cost us in many ways. Wives, whether your husband preaches full-time or sometimes teaches a Bible class, heed this article! We can make or break our husband's zeal.

This is such a good post. :) I know Dad has appreciated your support as a wonderful wife and now I'm finding out personally just how important it is to be a Barnabas! Love you, Mom. :)

No one understands a preacher's wife like another preacher's wife! :) I am thankful to have learned from my mom, who missed out on close friendships as a young preacher's wife due to fear of appearing to play favorites, that it is OK and even healthy for everyone to have special friends. Of course we have to be careful about what we portray, but with God's help we can get through some of these issues and have even more influence on those around us by having deeper relationships with them. Thanks for this great post, Joy!
